Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Wendy Meets Ding Dong

Thanks to e-bay, I finally managed to replace my long-lost copy of Casper #129 (Harvey~May, 1969) Why? you may ask...because of the book's hilarious send-up of King Kong (or in this case, "Ding Dong" and his pa, "Bing Bong") This is a fifteen-pager (about half of the book) and I originally wanted to post it in two parts but, changed my mind. So, this is a long post, folks...

This is also the first of three different "King Kong" parodies I have for Harvey comics. The other two involve Gloria Glad and will post on Saturday and Sunday, respectively ;)

...seems Ding dong wants to be like his pappy. He even manages to kidnap a "blonde" (in this case, poor Wendy the Good Little Witch) At least he stepped on her house, afterward...

...the usual "humans terrified of ghosts" gag ensues but, Ding Dong could care less about Casper...

...the script goes way off but then, this is a parody so there is a lot of leeway...

...of course, Bing Bong is quick to admonish his son for trying to follow in his foot-steps...and to put down the "blonde"...
