Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Hit Girl's Escape

Forgive me the long delay on this but, I've been having a few "Real Life" problems that needed my immediate attention. Family first.

This post is a bit longer than my other Hit Girl posts, even with editing out a lot of panels and pages. If you've been following this series ( meaning actually buying the book), then you already ken who Mindy's "executioner" is supposed to be. He's revealed here and if you don't recognise him, oh well. *shrugs shoulders*

The panels and pages here are in chronological order. I've left out Mindy's flashbacks to her "underwater training" with Big Daddy but did include the page where she is almost recaptured in the current scenario. How's she finally rescued and by whom, I did not reveal but, it's not difficult to figure out. Using the clews in the pages here, one can almost figure out that Mindy's executioner has also become one of her saviours. And though she is still doped up, she manages to finally get out of that pesky straight-jacket! I've left out a lot of important scenes and most of the violence and just concentrated on Mindy's immediate peril. I've also included the totally mis-leading cover. There is only one more issue to go and I'm guessing it'll be a pretty bloody one. Not sure when it'll hit the stands but I'm on the wait list ;)

Sandy Gets Captured

I only restored the pertinent pages for this Cyclone story. Found in Crackajack Funnies #36 (K.K. Publications~June, 1941 {formerly Whitman Publications Inc.}) The tale itself is rather complicated so, I kept it simple.

Gloria Shrinks Again!

Scanned in from Richie Rich and Gloria #12 (a.k.a. Rich Richie's Girlfriend Gloria) {HARVEY ILLUSTRATED HUMOR INC.~January, 1980}, comes another "shrinking" tale. There is a mild vore reference as well. Both parts are included in this post.

The Haunted Inn

Here's another Ghost Rider tale from Ghost Rider #8 (Magazine Enterprises~August, 1952), that follows a familiar set-up...the "unseen-killer-in-the-old-haunted-house" routine...

Mary Batson On The Wire

From WOW Comics #24 (Fawcett~April, 1944) comes this Mary Marvel tale that I've lovingly restored from fuzzy, yellowed pages. Here, Mary literally gets "bombed" (almost...), and it's Uncle Dudley to the rescue! The restoration is recent so, this is the first time these "restored" scans have been available, at least by me. I only wish I had had better source materiel but, I did do up a few detail panels ;)

Other things to note here: look for an "on screen" truss-up for Mary Batson (around page #8) and Uncle Dudley actually in flight! Also, a surprise at the end of this post which could be found in various WOW and other Fawcett comics of the time.

Here are the detail panels I did, though the quality isn't the greatest...

...aaaaaaannnndd...here's the bonus! It's an IHA (In House Advert) featuring Mary Batson hyping up saving scrap paper for the war drives. Looking back on this makes me wonder if the late, great John Willie used this as inspiration for all his "Don't Let This Happen To You" photos...I'm also running the song "Helpless" by Wishbone Ash in my head as I write this, heh, heh...
