Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Mary Meets Pharyngula

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING MARY MARVEL SEQUENCE CONTAINS MULTIPLE DEATHS, IMPLIED VORE, GURO AND GORE! READ ON AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I've done the best I could with "stitching" together the splash pages for this sequence from Countdown #46 (DC COMICS~June 13, 2007). The above warning isn't meant to scare off anyone, just there as a precaution. This episode has Mary finding another piece of the Rock Of Eternity but in the wrong hands. Read on and you'll see what happens. More gory details at the end...

...even worse...

Betty And Veronica's Perilous Morning

I've stated ere that I cover every aspect of the DID genre. Bondage isn't, and doesn't, have to always be involved. Take this tale from Betty & Veronica #205 (CLOSE-UP, INC.~January, 1973). What starts off as an early morning outdoor adventure, leads to multiple dangers and perils for the would-be sunrise seekers! Read on. Note: for you "sticky" fans, Betty does get mired down in the mud a bit. I've provided a detail panel for that at the end...

...here's a couple more bonus panels...

Mary Marvel's Rebirth

I wasn't the biggest fan of DC's "Countdown" series from 2007 but, I did tend to follow the Mary Marvel story-line/arc a bit more closely than the rest. Here is the seven-pager sequence involving Mary getting all of Teth-Adam's (or "Black Adam" as he was also known) powers, thus ushering in the "birth" of "Black Mary". Note that my scanner does not pick up well with the "high-gloss" pages of the newer comics so, I did the best I could with this. Also note that I plan to post the remaining parts of just Mary's tale from the Countdown series, as I only bought the issues that featured her. Hopefully, I'll have those up before the year's ending. This sequence here is from Countdown #47 (DC Comics, August, 2007). Cover scan and a couple of detail panels included...

Daisy Mae's Dilemma

Here's another little nugget I found over at the DCM, from Zany #4 (Candar Publishing Co., Inc.~May, 1959). If you don't get the parody here then, you're probably too young to remember it.

Wendy's Baby-sitting Peril

While I'm not a big "furry" fan, I'll give this bizarre tale from Wendy The Good Little Witch #45 (HARVEY PICTURE MAGAZINES, INC.~December, 1967) an exception. You can label this one under a lot of different DID categories, I'm sure. Read on as Wendy matches wits with twin terrors, a fox and a couple of hunters. Unrelated cover scan and bonus detail panels at the end of this ten-pager.

Mary And The Three Crooks

No real peril for Mary Marvel in this strange tale from WOW Comics #42 (Fawcett~April, 1946), as she rounds up three very weird criminals. For the collector. Restored as best I could. Read on...

...unrelated and restored cover scan...and why not? No extra charge...
