Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Duchess Of The Bastille Pt.1

Here's another lost Stanton classic I've managed to clean up from my old Xerox copies, titled, "Duchess of the Bastille. This is a thirty-pager in three parts. But be forewarned, there is an abundance of torture as only Stanton could draw it. And while the ending hints at a death scene, it is never shown. Rarely, if ever, will I include a death scene for a damsel unless it involves the villainess. Here are the first ten pages...

Hen-pecked Pt.3

Mary's first encounter with the "Hen" happened over here and here. This is the follow-up story, if you will, of the Hen's return. Culled from Marvel Family #34 (Fawcett~April, 1949). I've also included a non-related cover scan, simply because I can. Read on...

Orphan Girl Dragon Slayer Pt.1

Here's another new favourite tale of mine from Fairy Tale Parade #7 (Dell Publishing Company, Inc.~1943), involving an early version of Disney's "Reluctant Dragon" (according to the DCM notes), and an un-named orphan/beggar girl, turned heroine. The story is titled "The Dragon of Dilly Dun Dee". I've done a slight upgrading of the colours to this Walt Kelly story and am posting the twenty-pager in two parts. Have a read into part 1...

Josie And The Scaredy Cats

First off, this tale has nothing to do with the infamous "Pedo Bear", though you may think it does when you first read it. Now that that's cleared up, let's see what kind of distress Josie, Melody and Valerie get into when they spend the night in a "haunted" mansion, heh, heh. Scanned in from my personal collection from Archie & Friends #58 (Archie Comic Publications, Inc.~August, 2002). Read on, if you dare! Muwahahahahaaaa!

If anyone wants a copy of the book itself, I have 10 copies available, all in near-mint to mint condition. Just blip me an email. Also, I'm looking for the prequel story for this one. Any help is greatly appreciated, as always.
