Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

The Pussycats Haunted Gig

Another story that wouldn't fit into my month-long Halloween celebration, is this tale from Josie & the Pussycats #64 (RADIO COMICS, INC.~September, 1972). Read on as Josie, Valerie, Melody and Alex get more than their share of spooks, in this goofy "haunted house/monster" set-up. The plot is predictable but fun in this fourteen-pager, heh, heh. Scanned from my personal collection. Cover scan and one more detail included...

...it's a "hair-raising" event, heh, heh...

Sabrina's Perilous Poltergeist Problem

Here's a "prelude" tale before I launch my DPL Haunted Spooktacular, starting October 1, 2015. This is the other tale from Sabrina The Teenage Witch #51 (ARCHIE MUSIC CORP.~February, 1979) that I didn't have room for. And though there is no bondage (another missed opportunity, alas), the peril and possible danger are present in the guise of an unseen poltergeist, which wreaks havoc with Sabrina, Hilda and even Della the Head Witch. You'd think they'd welcome a "guest" such as this, wot? Heh, heh. Purely for the Sabrina collector. I've also included a "fun page"! Download and do the maze at the end of this breezy four-pager...

Mary Batson's Perilous Flight

Here's the complete, four-page sequence of Mary Batson's DID/DIP scene from Marvel Family #48 (Fawcett~June, 1950). I sourced the original scans from the DCM (which were small) but managed to make some nice colour restorations and detail panels. The sequence is from the story "The Four Horsemen Ride Again" (if you want to read it in full, go to the DCM & look under the "Fawcett" section) and appears near the end. The story in short: The Marvels investigate a string of unusual events. Each one goes solo to check things out. Mary uncovers an insurance fraud scheme among an oil field fire. Unfortunately, she's captured. This sequence is one of the few times that finds Mary getting K.O.'d twice in one story! And, of course, she gets the full treatment. Watch for an OTS carry-off and one of the neatest OTM gags I've seen on Mary, in quite some time. Oh, yeah...there's that whole "getting-tossed-out-of-a-plane-while-bound-and-gagged" bit. Not to mention the raging fire below! Lots of detail panels for this one...

Mary's Bound To Be A Target

Here's a triple K.O. and peril sequence from Marvel Family #75 (Fawcett~September, 1952), and one of the few stories I've done "zoom detail" panels for (like the pic above). The tale is titled "The Great Space Struggle" and featured way more GID than I wanted to post so, I cut it down to the three pages that included Mary Batson's K.O. and bondage scenes. You can read the rest over at the DCM. Here's the sequence followed by the detail panels...

Della's Revenge

Here's a rare scene in a Sabrina comic: Aunt Hilda getting the "treatment". In this case it's the stocks for her as Della the Head Witch extracts her revenge for Hilda tarring and feathering her. From my copy of Sabrina The Teenage Witch #39 (Archie Music Corp.~June, 1977). The black blob running round the yard is supposed to be Della, though she's never actually shown in the story. Read on...
