Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Melody's Dungeon Peril

Here's what has to be the "holy grail" for Melody Jones in peril and/or bondage. Then again, I've yet to re-read all the Josie stories. Anyway, I scanned this in from my personal collection. A good friend of mine over at the c3c Yahoo group is the only other person to see (part of) this until now. Of course, I only sent him a wee promo of what to expect. Fans of Melody Jones (and really, who isn't?) should like this one. It's another haunted house/castle/manse type story with a predictable plot from Josie & the Pussycats #65 (RADIO COMICS, INC~October, 1972). Creepy shadows abound here, usually where Melody is concerned. The suspense build-up is fairly decent given this is a comic book. The tale soon turns into a solo mis-adventure with Melody. There's a great hand-gag scene as well as Melody getting chained to a dungeon wall(!) But she's carried off in time to be saved from a certain death. WARNING!: There is an implied death scene in this one, folks! I did up the cover scan and plenty of detail panels for your goodie bags. +PLUS+ there is a "super bonus" one-pager after this story that I've included, from the same book. Enjoy!
