Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Damsels Stooge Style Mega Post

I'm one who grew up watching syndicated 3 Stooges films. Every now & then a damsel would pop up in one of the goofy & hilarious scenarios (when the scene wasn't edited out for "ad time"). Finding similar scenes in the comics was even rarer than finding them in the films. And thanks to the great folks over at the DCM providing workable scans to restore, I've managed to find a trio of DID set-ups. The above detail is from the splash-page of the first story (Uncivil Warriors) in The Three Stooges Comics #1 (Jubilee Publications, Inc. under St. John Publications~February, 1949). I've restored the dark scans and done up a couple more details. Here, the inept trio come to the rescue of "Operator 13", Miss Draindrop Ansby (Draindrop?!) This is a fourteen (14) pager, folks. Have a long read...

...here's a couple more details of Miss Ansby...

INTERMISSION

Also from issue #1 is this sequence from the story "Hoi Polloi" (which the Stooges did almost fifty years before Trading Places was filmed. The only real DID here is when a bee flies down the back of the dance instructor's dress...

In issue #2 (May, 1949), the Stooges get into more hot water (quite literally) while filming on location in Africa. You can read the entire story over at the DCM. Here, I've restored just the sequence from the time everyone is captured, to the time of the rescue. Cover scan and small details included...

If anyone has any more of the early 3 Stooges comics, pass along the info to either me or the awesome folks at the DCM, thanks!
