Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

The Other Jun

Meet Jun. No, not the green-haired princess from Gatchaman. This princess was kidnapped whilst still a young child, by a tribe of jungle warriors in deepest Africa, circa 1926. You can find her origin in Blazing Comics #1 over at the DCM. Just look under "Rural Home Publications". The tale here hails from Blazing Comics #5 (Rural Home Publishing Co.~March, 1945). Her real name being "Joan Teal", the native witch doctor renames her "Jun-Gal". This after a horrific massacre of Joan's family while on an expedition to find radium (issue #1). Got all that? Good. The story here has Joan's cousin attempting to bring her back to civilisation. If it sounds "Tarzan-ish", it is. No bondage in this one but there is a great "pitfall/k.o" scene. Joan also goes into a faint after getting into the big city. It is soon discovered that she cannot survive without the radium she has lived near, back in the jungle. So, back to the jungle she goes. Have a read...
