Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Midge's and Maria's Milieu

There are quite a few scenes that feature Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge in bondage, distress and/or peril. Even Cheryl Blossom gets the "treatment" from time to time (more on Cheryl at a later date). But rarely do I find any scenario involving Moose's girlfriend (or, as he says it, "my gurl"), Midge Klump. This quick five-pager from Betty and Veronica #263 (1st series, November, 1977~CLOSE-UP, INC.) involves Frankie Valdez chasing his girlfriend, Maria Rodriguez, all over the beach in an effort to "cover" her up (but I'd say Betty and Veronica's bikinis are even skimpier...not that there's a problem with that, hee, hee...) Seems Frankie doesn't like it when Maria shows more of herself on the beach than she would to Frankie, elsewhere. Ahem. Needless to say, Frankie isn't paying attention to who (whom?) he's wrapping up in that blanket. But you can bet Moose sure is! Cue the ambulance and have a read...

As I found this comic on-line, it wasn't the best of scans. The first couple of pages I had to "over-contrast" and brighten to get rid of the over-printing that is common of the older Archie comics. I also had to "rebuild" the bottom panels of pages 3 and 4. you can compare them, here. Finally, I created some nice, over-sized detail panels. Enjoy!
