Welcome to the DPL...

Welcome to the Damsel Preservation League or "DPL" for short. Contained herein, you'll find a multitude of damsels of all ages worthy of preservation, as well as many links to current artists & writers of the DID genre, and many old-school favourites. Although this is basically a research type blog, there may be some occasional "mature" themed comics so, beware of this. Also this blog & is moderated to keep the spam to a minimum. The majority of the images are ones I've personally "rebuilt" from either my own collection or scans found elsewhere on the 'net. Any applicable copyrights belong to the owners and I make no money from them. Also note that this blog is still a work in progress and will be added to as I continue along...

Miss Masque

Nice, neat Miss Masque (a.k.a., Diana Adams) story I culled and restored from Black Terror #21 (Visual Editions, Inc., under Standard~1947). Ridiculously over-sized detail panels for your enjoyment or as possible "wall-paper", heh, heh. Note that panels "6-d3" & "7-d2" are copy/paste fabrications I did up to eliminate those insane corner angles. Have a read...

Unknown Peril

I'm currently looking for more of this story-line from a British girl's weekly comic-book. I found a couple of pages in a massive folder with no descriptions, just image/scan numbers. I think the story is titled "The Sentinel" but not 100% sure. It follows the adventures of Sally and Jan as they travel through to a world that parallels their own. In this clip, both girls are captured by the "other side", if you will. The scans are poor so, I did my best to rebuild them. These are the only two pages I have, so far. Any help would be appreciated!

Mary's Launch Party

I won't bore you with the non-essential pages of this (comic) book-length tale. Some of you have, no doubt, read this before. I'll get right to the DID/GID action. As with most Marvel Family stories, you can't really have the DID without the GID, unfortunately. But I digress. The tale here is from Marvel Family #56 (Fawcett Publications, Inc.~February, 1951), and titled "The World's Mightiest Project". Here's the story in short: One King Klaggor rules his underworld with a tight fist. Kind of like how Stalin ruled the old U.S.S.R. King Klaggor is well aware of the power and inventions of the "Ancients" on the above world of (now) modern-day Earth. However, he keeps his subjects in the dark about their ancient past. He's eventually discovered by the Marvels who see, first-hand, how the King is running things. But when they set out to free the people, Mary Marvel acertains that, due to the enormous population of about a billion people, the Earth above wouldn't be able to handle such an influx of immigrants. Ya think? So, the Marvels, in familiar Marvel fashion, set out to "create" a "New Earth" (and no, it isn't Earth 2), to accommodate all these folks. Of course, King Klaggor gets wind of the plans and attempts to stop the Marvels. I've restored the pertinent pages from Chapters 2 and 3 to illustrate the lengths the King will go to to thwart the family trio. From a "Black Bubble" (or "gloop" ball as I like to call it) that encases it's victims, to a "launch" party involving the trio gagged, and secured to a "helium bomb"! Despite the scans being sub-par, I managed to get in some nice detail panels. The above panel is from Chapter 2. Read on...

Mary Gets Sentimental

I've not posted any Mary Marvel stories in a while. This is mainly due to lack of materiel. Fortunately, some kind soul managed to upload a fairly decent paper copy of Marvel Family #25 (Fawcett~July, 1948), to the DCM. I culled and restored the Mary Marvel story within. Extremely large detail panels are included at no extra charge, heh. The balance of Mondays for the month of June, 2017, will feature some more "Mary Marvel Mishaps". Stay tuned...
